https://journal.unimma.ac.id./index.php/ce/article/view/12121

One form of modern journalism is citizen journalism, where non-professional individuals can play an active role in the information production process. 'Aisyiyah, as a religious organization active in women's empowerment, encourages its members to contribute to citizen journalism to disseminate progressive Islamic values. The purpose of this community service (PkM) is to enhance the skills of 'Aisyiyah cadres in writing news and captions for news portals and social media. The method used in this service is an audience-centered method, consisting of four stages: partner needs identification, training, mentoring, and evaluation. The training covers basic journalism materials, including journalistic introduction, journalistic ethics, laws and regulations, coverage techniques, information gathering, news writing (5W+1H), photography, and videography using mobile phone cameras. The results of the activity indicate that the participants' understanding of basic journalism increased by 75%, but some participants still require further mentoring. Therefore, further efforts are needed to deepen participants' understanding and skills in writing news or captions on the information system managed by the 'Aisyiyah Makassar City Branch Leaders.
Muhammad Yahya, Arni Arni, Syukri Syukri, Sabriani Sabriani, Andita Mudiyawati, Andi Qonita Lutfiah

https://journal.unimma.ac.id./index.php/ce/article/view/12353

This community service aims to enhance the capacity of health cadres in Kindingan Village in blood pressure measurement using digital sphygmomanometers. The main problems faced by the service partners are the cadres' low understanding of sphygmomanometer usage, normal blood pressure limits, and pulse monitoring. This activity was conducted in several stages, namely theoretical training, practical training, and evaluation. The team provided grants in the form of 10 units of digital sphygmomanometers and 5 units of infant and adult weighing scales to support their role in community health monitoring. The training results showed a significant increase in the cadres' understanding and skills in accurately measuring blood pressure. The cadres are now able to understand normal blood pressure limits and utilize the pulse feature on the sphygmomanometers, and it is expected that this will improve the overall quality of community health monitoring, especially in the early detection of hypertension.
Rina Saputri, Mohammad Basit, Ahmad Hidayat, Ali Rakhman Hakim, Fadhiyah Noor Anisa

Indonesia’s high disaster vulnerability necessitates highly competent emergency medical response volunteers. This training program aimed to enhance the emergency medicine management skills of Disaster Response Scouts in the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY). Thirty participants from five sub-districts (Gunungkidul, Sleman, Kulonprogo, Bantul, and Yogyakarta City) attended the training held May 19, 2024, at the DIY Regional Scout Hall. The training integrated mini-lectures, small group discussions, and hands-on practice for a holistic approach to theory and practical skills. Pre-test and post-tests, along with simulation observations, evaluated the training's effectiveness. Results showed a significant increase in average scores from 50.83 (pre-test) to 86.25 (post-test, p < 0.0001, Wilcoxon Test), with 66.7% of participants achieving “very good” status post-training (compared to 13.3% pre-training). https://journal.unimma.ac.id./index.php/ce/article/view/12833

Mampie Hamlet, West Sulawesi, is experiencing coastal abrasion, increasingly frequent tidal flooding, and water pollution that threaten the environment and community economy. Previous efforts, such as the installation of breakwaters, have not been effective in addressing these issues. The purpose of this community service is to increase community awareness and involvement in coastal conservation through a mangrove adoption system. The methods used include focus group discussions (FGDs) with stakeholders, participatory visual-based training, and mangrove planting and monitoring at two locations. A total of 445 mangrove seedlings were planted using an adoption system, involving the community, schools, and universities. Monitoring over three months showed that 87% of the mangroves survived at the first location, while the second location experienced higher losses due to waste and environmental disturbances. From these results, it can be concluded that the mangrove adoption system is effective in increasing community participation and planting success, although further support is needed in waste management and environmental awareness to maintain the achieved results.
Alexander Kurniawan Sariyanto Putera, Muh.
